Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, explaining relevant policies and procedures to patients and their families, while addressing inquiries with clarity and professionalism. Evaluate patients' gastrointestinal, cardiovascular, respiratory, renal, and neurological health status, adjusting care plans as necessary.
- Identify patients' coping mechanisms and educational needs, taking into account cultural and ethnic considerations to enhance patient satisfaction. Document psychological assessments and coordinate support services as needed.
- Formulate individualized patient outcome statements and establish specific goals. Prioritize care activities to achieve desired outcomes while ensuring the efficient use of resources.
- Utilize professional nursing skills to reassess patients and modify care plans as required. Administer prescribed treatments accurately and provide emotional support to patients and their families.
- Maintain meticulous documentation of patient care, treatment responses, and any changes in condition. Act promptly and effectively in emergency situations, ensuring a safe and calming environment for patients.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement treatment regimens, providing guidance to other team members as necessary.
- Administer medications safely and educate patients and their families about potential drug interactions and health management.
- Engage in patient and family education, ensuring that patients understand their conditions and care plans. Document feedback to evaluate the effectiveness of educational efforts.
- Perform additional duties as required, recognizing that all responsibilities outlined are essential functions of the role.
Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing is required. A Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is preferred, with a commitment to obtaining a BSN within a specified timeframe.
- A valid Registered Professional Nurse license in New York State is mandatory, along with any necessary specialized certifications.
- A minimum of two years of experience in critical care nursing is preferred.
