Position Summary

The Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO) is a proactive professional focused on expanding their clientele while delivering outstanding customer service. The MLO initiates the mortgage process for prospective clients and leverages technology to enhance the management and origination of contacts. They guide borrowers in selecting the appropriate loan program, assist in completing the loan application, and gather essential documentation such as pay stubs, tax returns, and bank statements to commence the loan process. The MLO maintains clear and timely communication with all parties involved, including title officers, escrow officers, loan processors, real estate agents, and underwriters throughout the loan lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Facilitates mortgage applications for submission to processing and underwriting teams.
  2. Develops a comprehensive marketing/business strategy, identifying potential and existing clients, realtors, builders, and developers, along with a schedule for outreach.
  3. Proactively sources business; conducts sales outreach to potential or existing clients as outlined in the marketing plan to cultivate new business or maintain current relationships.
  4. Responds to inquiries from customers via phone and in-person, providing information on various loan products and qualification criteria.
  5. Assesses loan applications, analyzes financial information, and evaluates the creditworthiness of collateral and customer credit history.
  6. Structures loans in accordance with acceptable lending practices and regulatory standards.
  7. Cross-sells additional bank products and services to enhance the customer's overall banking experience.
  8. Keeps clients informed about the status of their loans and requests any necessary documentation.
  9. Engages in community activities to uphold and enhance Core Bank's reputation while promoting loan products. Networks through professional and community organizations.
  10. Maintains a thorough understanding of various loan programs, including Conventional, FHA, VA, and others.
  11. Regular attendance is essential.
  12. Other duties as assigned may be required of the employee.
Qualifications

Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or GED; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Experience in mortgage lending with a proven track record of production.
  • Experience in generating external business through referral partnerships, including realtors, builders, and financial advisors.
  • NMLS registration is required.
Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to independently source business.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel.
