Position Summary:

We are in search of a dedicated Information Technology Educator (Middle & High School) to become a part of our teaching team. The role involves instructing students on the hardware and software integral to contemporary computer systems. Additionally, the educator will cultivate students' digital literacy skills, including coding, Cyber Security, and STEM knowledge. A comprehensive understanding of computer technology is essential, encompassing everything from internal computer operations to the optimal operating systems for various tasks. Staying updated with the latest advancements in technology and educational practices is crucial.

Key Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Creating New York State Standard Units and Lesson Plans for technology-focused courses.
  • Implementing culturally relevant curricula and project-based learning aligned with NYS Academic Technology Standards.
  • Designing assessments to evaluate student progress towards academic standards.
  • Utilizing assessment data to enhance curriculum and instructional methods.
  • Establishing effective classroom management strategies that include appropriate rewards and consequences.
  • Engaging in collaborative curriculum development and participating in school-wide activities throughout the academic year.
  • Ensuring students achieve mastery of technology standards.
  • Communicating effectively with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Participating in annual staff orientation and training sessions.
  • Completing any additional duties as assigned.

Specific Responsibilities Related to Information Technology:

These include:

  • Instructing students on the use of various computer applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
  • Maintaining and troubleshooting computer hardware and software within the school.
  • Assessing new technologies and applications, providing recommendations for classroom use.
  • Guiding students in acquiring fundamental computer skills.
  • Offering technical support to faculty in utilizing school computers.
  • Designing lesson plans that effectively integrate technology into teaching.
  • Developing a curriculum that encompasses topics such as operating systems, programming languages, and software applications relevant to specific fields.
  • Supporting students with academic and personal challenges affecting their classroom performance.
  • Conducting workshops for teachers on effective technology integration in the classroom.

Qualifications:

  • A valid State Certification is advantageous but not mandatory.
