Job Summary

The Operating Room Technician plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of the surgical department at Middlesex Health. As a key member of the surgical team, this individual will be responsible for setting up and maintaining the operating room, managing equipment and supplies, and providing support during surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Pre-Operative Preparation
    • Ensure the operating room is set up according to surgeon preferences and relevant standards
    • Aid in the turnover of the OR room by managing equipment and supplies
  • Operative Support
    • Assist in various surgical procedures by providing necessary equipment and supplies
    • Transport patients to and from the Operating Room
    • Assist in patient positioning as directed by the Surgeon
  • Post-Operative Procedures
    • Support the OR team in room break down and turnover procedures
    • Help in picking and organizing supplies for procedures
    • Maintain and monitor equipment and supply levels in the OR department
  • Additional Responsibilities
    • Function as a runner to obtain equipment and supplies from different departments
    • Ensure cleanliness and functionality of the OR Department
    • Take on-call duties as required
    • Adhere to core values and organizational policies

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • PCT or CNA course completion or equivalent
  • Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of Sterile Technique, Nursing student with 2-year completion
