Job Summary

SAIC is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Engineering Technician to join our team at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center in Newport, RI.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support and expertise to a cross-functional team, ensuring the successful execution of engineering projects.
  • Develop and implement solutions to engineering and fabrication problems of moderate scope and complexity, utilizing expertise in electro-mechanical systems.
  • Design, fabricate, and assemble systems, cables, and wire harnesses, adhering to strict quality and safety standards.
  • Support engineering activities, including design, test, checkout, modification, fabrication, and assembly of prototype electro-mechanical systems, with a focus on electronic circuits, photonics, and logic systems.
  • Collaborate with engineers to develop and implement testing, checkout, and troubleshooting functions, utilizing schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts, or defined plans.
  • Assist in determining methods or actions to remedy malfunctions, collecting, maintaining, organizing, compiling, and manipulating technical data.
  • Review and provide feedback on engineering documentation, reports, or drawings, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards.

Requirements

Essential Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.
  • US Citizenship.
  • Active Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain a TS Clearance.
  • Production cable building experience.
  • Experience with electro-mechanical hardware design and fabrication.
  • Ability to read schematics/drawings and troubleshoot from schematics/drawings.
  • Proficiency in using precision measuring tools, including multi-meters, micrometers, calipers, and other similar metrology devices.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Common Submarine Radio Room (CSRR) experience.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in the following fields: Periscope Technician, Photonics Technician, Satellite Communications, Sail Coordinator, HF Technician, Fiber Optic Technician, CM Maintenance Technician, Radio Operator, Radar Operator, ESM System Expert, Piloting Party, EM Maintenance Technician, ESM/Radar, ESM Operator, or Communications System Expert.
  • Additional training or experience with the following: Radio Supervisor, LAN Technician of the Watch, ISIS system (Integrated Submarine Imaging System), RFDACS (Radio Frequency Distribution and Control System), EKMS Manager (Electronic Key Management System), 2M certified, LAN Manager, ESM Supervisor, ICADF (Improved Communications Acquisition and Direction Finding) system.
