Teaching Support Specialist

Job Summary:
Lorven Technologies is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to join our team as a Teaching Assistant in the Education Department. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting the education of students in a juvenile correctional facility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise students in the classroom, ensuring their safety and well-being in the absence of the classroom teacher.
- Monitor student attendance, behavior, and progress, providing guidance and support as needed.
- Assist students with completing assignments and provide support with classroom instruction.
- Manage the classroom effectively, maintaining a positive and productive learning environment.
- Participate in faculty and professional meetings, contributing to the development of educational programs and policies.
- Report directly to the School Principal, performing duties with minimal supervision.
Essential Duties:
- Follow established policies and procedures in critical incidents, prioritizing the safety and well-being of students and staff.
- Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Supervise the daily work of students, evaluating their progress and providing feedback.
- Operate job-related equipment, ensuring its proper use and maintenance.
- Collaborate with other departments to enhance the learning environment and promote student success.
- Provide written reports and participate in multidisciplinary treatment teams, contributing to the development of individualized education plans.
- Attend and successfully complete all required training and certifications, staying up-to-date with industry best practices.
- Develop and review clear, accurate, and concise reports, ensuring compliance with departmental policies and procedures.
- Promote a positive image and maintain good working relationships with students, staff, and community partners.
- Perform related duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the Education Department.
Requirements:
- Ability to implement daily and weekly teacher lesson plans, enforcing full course objectives in the absence of an educator.
- Ability to create and maintain a positive learning environment, conducive to individual growth and development.
- Ability to manage educational department supplies, equipment, and tools, ensuring their proper use and maintenance.
- Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing, conveying complex information in a clear and concise manner.
- Ability to work effectively in a teamwork environment, collaborating with colleagues to achieve common goals.
- Ability to accept supervision and constructive feedback, using it as an opportunity for growth and development.
- Ability to test negative on all drug tests, ensuring a safe and healthy work environment.
- Ability to successfully complete all required training and certifications, staying up-to-date with industry best practices.
