Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Railroad Field Engineer to join our team at Succession Planning for Railroads Investing in the Next Generation (SPRING). As a Railroad Field Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the successful execution of our rail projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Schedule Management: Develop and manage project schedules, ensuring timely completion of tasks and milestones.
  • Submittal Coordination: Prepare and submit project documentation, including field work packages and as-built data.
  • Field Operations: Conduct field safety and quality inspections, perform procurement quantity takeoffs, and compile necessary information for submittals.
  • Communication: Provide regular updates to project stakeholders, including schedule information and project progress.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with document control and field personnel to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Cost Management: Ensure accurate cost coding and tracking, including extra work coding as assigned by the Project Engineer.
  • Documentation: Update drawings with redlines of as-built information and maintain accurate project records.
  • Training and Development: Participate in necessary job-specific training and maintain annual requirements.
Requirements
  • Education: Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent work experience in a construction-related position.
  • Experience: 2-5 years of railroad construction experience, preferably in a field engineering role.
  • Skills: Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications, AutoCAD skills, and construction management course work or internship experience.
  • Personal Qualities: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to work in a team environment, and strong organizational skills.
Working Conditions

The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent travel to project sites. The ability to work in both office and field environments is essential.
