Manager of Compensation and Benefits Administration

Overview:

The Manager of Compensation & Benefits Administration is tasked with the strategic planning, design, execution, and management of compensation and benefits initiatives for the organization. This role involves researching and integrating external best practices and innovative trends into compensation and benefits programs. The primary responsibility includes overseeing all facets of the employee benefits program, encompassing health and welfare plans, retirement plans, life insurance, leaves of absence, and other related offerings. Additionally, this position supports the Senior Director of Compensation & Benefits in assessing and recommending compensation strategies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Administration
  • Effectively implement and manage all benefit plans, including annual enrollment processes.
  • Oversee the processing of all invoices related to benefits.
  • Collaborate with vendors and external partners to ensure optimal service delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements through accurate ACA reporting and staying updated on relevant changes.
  • Develop communication strategies to educate employees about compensation and benefits.
  • Act as a primary resource for employees and vendors regarding benefits-related inquiries.
  • Assist in compensation planning processes in partnership with internal stakeholders.
  • Create internal procedures and controls for benefits administration.
  • Establish metrics to evaluate and monitor the effectiveness of ongoing benefit programs and new initiatives.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and employee records.
  • Complete special projects as assigned.
Customer Service
  • Address employee inquiries and manage leave and disability matters in compliance with legal standards.
  • Foster proactive relationships with Finance, Payroll, and other departments.
  • Conduct training sessions and presentations as required.
Record Keeping
  • Oversee invoice processing and maintain monthly audits of benefit plans.
  • Support the preparation of necessary compliance documents.
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
  • Communication: Engage in constructive discussions with peers and employees, addressing differing opinions respectfully and fostering collaboration.
  • Customer Service: Enhance employee satisfaction by understanding their perspectives and the services offered. Maintain a professional demeanor and anticipate employee needs.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, human resources, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Certifications such as Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS), PHR, or SHRM-CP are advantageous.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in compensation and benefits management.
  • Experience with Payroll systems, particularly ADP WorkforceNow.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory laws affecting compensation and benefits (FLSA, Sec 125, ERISA, HIPAA, etc.).
  • Experience collaborating with brokers, insurance companies, and service providers.
  • Excellent analytical skills for process improvement and problem resolution.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication abilities.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the capacity to manage multiple projects while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly advanced Excel skills.
  • Self-motivated and capable of thriving in a dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrated operational, interpersonal, project management, vendor management, and leadership capabilities.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
