Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in daily animal care activities, including feeding, cleaning, and grooming of resident animals.
  • Assist in the capture, restraint, and impoundment of animals, ensuring a safe and humane environment.
  • Investigate reports of animal attacks or cruelty, collecting evidence and testifying in court proceedings as needed.
  • Interpret local ordinances and state regulations related to animal control field investigations.
  • Collect and process fees for animal services, including surrender, impoundment, and adoption fees.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with City staff, animal rescue groups, and the general public.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational training or job-related coursework preferred.
  • Must have knowledge of animal care methods and experience working with animals.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent exposure to noise, dirt, and unpleasant odors.
  • Valid Texas driver's license and acceptable driving record required.
  • Must obtain TDH Basic Animal Control and Euthanasia Technician certifications within six months of employment.
Working Environment

This role requires working in a dynamic and sometimes challenging environment, with exposure to noise, dirt, and unpleasant odors. You must be able to lift objects over 50 pounds, crouch, crawl, and run as needed.

We offer a comprehensive benefits package to full-time employees, including health care, dental, vision, retirement, and life insurance. Part-time employees who work an average of 20 hours per week or more receive benefits on a pro-rated basis.
