Job Summary:
Administers radiation therapy treatments to patients with cancer, working closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure accurate and effective treatment plans. Key responsibilities include assessment, intervention, calculations, documentation, and patient education.

Works under the general supervision of a radiation therapy supervisor and is evaluated based on conformance to standards and procedures.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Administers radiation therapy in accordance with physician's instructions and the patient's treatment plan, utilizing computer systems to enter data and adjust equipment settings.
  • Collaborates with physicians, radiation oncologists, and clinical physicists to prepare physical and technical aspects of radiation treatment plans, taking into account patient anatomy and condition.
  • Maintains accurate and detailed patient and billing records, adhering to department policies and procedures.
  • Performs routine and complex radiation therapy treatments, including total body irradiation, stereotactic radiosurgery, and low and high brachytherapy, in accordance with established practices and standards.
  • Prepares equipment and treatment rooms for patients, utilizing protective equipment and procedures to ensure safety.
  • Provides on-the-job clinical instruction and evaluation for student radiation therapists.

Requirements:

  • Graduation from a Radiation Therapy Technologist program approved by the Council of Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA).
  • Radiation Therapy certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or Board Eligible (must receive certification within one year of hire).

Work Environment:

  • Per Diem position with a standard work schedule of 16 hours per week.
  • Salary range: $46.33 per hour (hiring range), with pay offers determined by experience and internal equity.
