Bethany is a leading international Christian nonprofit organization that strengthens and preserves families, supports displaced people, and finds safe, loving families for children who need them. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Safe Families for Children Coordinator to join our team in Chattanooga, TN.

Job Summary:

The Safe Families for Children Coordinator is a key leadership role that oversees church engagement, volunteer recruitment, and end-to-end operational coordination of all Safe Families hosting arrangements and services. This position is responsible for identifying and engaging churches, recruiting and training church ministry leads, and coaching volunteers to ensure the successful implementation of the Safe Families program.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Identify and engage churches in participating, lead, and community lead levels
  • Recruit and train church ministry leads and coach them on developing their ministry teams
  • Coach Ministry Leads to ensure SFFC churches regularly recruit, support, and empower their volunteers
  • Oversee the growth of SFFC churches to ensure engagement of current and new volunteers for Circles of Support
  • Develop faith forums or other pastoral gatherings as needed
  • Facilitate recruitment of volunteers through Church engagement, Home Gatherings, and other strategies
  • Facilitate or assist with developing a volunteer Leadership Council
  • Ensure volunteers and churches are resourced appropriately to meet the needs of parents and their children
  • Network within the community to build positive alliances and create opportunities for volunteer recruitment
  • Provide compelling presentations to audiences of various sizes related to the Safe Families program
  • Secure interest of new volunteer applicants and assist them through the Safe Families selection process
  • Facilitate or assist in organizing and delivering high-quality training to volunteers
  • Offer resources and coaching for SFFC church Ministry Leads and Circle of Support teams
  • Generate and provide written reports to management, the board, and key stakeholders
  • Provide safety oversight of SFFC program implementation
  • Conduct supervision and develop training for SFFC volunteers
  • Provide emergency and on-call support to SFFC volunteers
  • Facilitate or assist in promoting program community relations and publicity
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with church representatives and community agencies
  • Conduct home assessments and complete documentation according to program guidelines
  • Facilitate or assist with interviews of Host Families and Family Coaches
  • Supervise, train, and support Family Coach and Host Family volunteers
  • Facilitate or assist with Family Coach Supervision responsibilities
  • Encourage Family Coaches to help parents set goals and work towards accomplishing them
  • Facilitate or assist in maintaining all Safe Families volunteers' files
  • Develop and establish positive relationships with referral sources
  • Consult with supervisor on referrals to determine program fit for host families
  • Plan, develop, and administer program to ensure basic developmental and therapeutic needs of clients are met
  • Actively participate in tracking and reporting of information pertinent to recruitment, training, and vetting volunteers
  • Facilitate or assist in Safe Family selection, transportation, and placement of children into Host Family homes
  • Facilitate or assist in connecting Safe Families volunteers, local churches, and community members
  • Maintain current knowledge pertaining to Safe Families family coaching
  • Maintain all documentation according to program guidelines
  • Participate in all Safe Family staff functions, meetings, trainings, and supervision
  • Participate in quality assurance and quality improvement activities
  • Participate in fundraising activities and other events that promote the Safe Families for Children movement
  • Serve as a champion for the compassionate ethos of Safe Families
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's level degree in Social Work, Counseling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Child Development, or related field of study from an accredited college
  • Master's level degree in Social Work, Counseling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Child Development, or related field of study from an accredited college, preferred
  • Prior experience working with at-risk children and families
  • Prior experience working collaboratively with local faith communities, preferred
  • May require professional licensure in the respective state
  • Experience with public speaking in a variety of settings, preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability and willingness to work some evenings and weekends, as needed
  • Prior experience in recruitment, marketing, volunteer management, or coaching
  • Prior experience with and demonstrated ability to utilize social media
  • Possess strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • A self-starter with an ability to work autonomously
  • Reliable with time-sensitive deadlines and tasks
  • Exercise a high level of confidentiality
  • Work well under pressure and adaptable to change
  • Computer skills sufficient to perform essential functions, including knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
  • Must be 21 years old with a valid driver's license and at least 3 years driving experience in the U.S. to operate a vehicle on behalf of Bethany
  • Must pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check and maintain a reliable vehicle with proof of adequate insurance coverage
  • Pass a criminal history screen, including state and local child protection agency registries
  • Subscription to and integration of the agency Statement of Faith and Mission Statement
