Job Summary and QualificationsAt St. Mark's Hospital, our nursing staff plays a crucial role. We recognize that each nurse's journey is unique. Do you wish to carve out your own nursing career path? As a proficient Circulating Nurse in the OR, you will deliver outstanding patient care during surgical and invasive procedures. Under the guidance of the OR Manager, you will collaborate with team members to ensure the operating room is fully prepared for all procedures.
In this role, you will:
- Perform general nursing duties and demonstrate competence in all OR procedures as verified by specific competencies.
- Facilitate efficient room turnover and patient flow.
- Complete all necessary paperwork and computer charting to ensure accurate and timely documentation and patient charges.
- Utilize your experience to anticipate and fulfill the needs of the surgeon.
- Ensure the Pre-op Checklist is completed before the patient enters the surgical suite.
- Be consistently prepared for assigned cases.
- Respond appropriately to patients in emergencies or distress.
- Facilitate communication between patients, surgeons, OR staff, families, and other departments as necessary.
- Provide a thorough report of the patient's intraoperative condition to the PACU nurse.
- Adhere to patient and employee safety/security policies and protocols, including hand hygiene and the use of personal protective equipment.
- Maintain professionalism, especially under pressure.
Qualifications:
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 90 days of employment.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
- Registered Nurse with an Associate or Bachelor's Degree.
- Minimum of 2 years of OR RN experience.
