Job Summary

USA Health is seeking a skilled HVAC Mechanic II to join our team. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of refrigeration and air conditioning equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Install and repair refrigeration and air conditioning equipment according to blueprints and schematic drawings.
  • Assemble structural and functional components, and perform preventive maintenance on refrigeration and air conditioning equipment.
  • Maintain and operate varied makes of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electronic and pneumatic control systems.
  • Repair hot water, chill water, and steam systems, including boilers, chillers, pumps, motors, valves, and other auxiliary equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on HVAC equipment, utilizing test equipment such as volt/amp/ohms meters, temperature pressure gauges, and others.
  • Use appropriate hand and power tools for repair and installation of equipment.
  • Travel between work sites using a University vehicle, and move items weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Climb ladders to access work areas, and work in closed areas of extreme hot or cold temperatures.
  • Distinguish color-coded wiring, and read blueprints and schematics to determine location, size, capacity, and types of components needed to repair equipment and/or systems.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent, and four years of experience in the operation and maintenance of HVAC systems.
  • Refrigerant Transition and Recovery certification, and a valid driver's license with a sufficient driving record to maintain insurance coverage under the University of South Alabama.
  • Successful completion of a program of study in HVAC at an accredited vocational/technical school may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
