Job Summary

We're seeking a highly skilled Traffic and Planning Section Manager to join our Ohio team. As a key member of our team, you'll be responsible for managing projects and tasks related to traffic elements, corridor studies, transportation NEPA projects, and design of roadway, bicycle, pedestrian, and transit projects. You'll work collaboratively with our multimodal teams to assess traffic operations and safety, identify geometric, traffic control, or technological solutions to address transportation system deficiencies, and develop innovative solutions to plan for and adapt to the growth of technology in transportation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage projects and tasks related to traffic elements, corridor studies, transportation NEPA projects, and design of roadway, bicycle, pedestrian, and transit projects.
  • Collaborate with multimodal teams to assess traffic operations and safety, identify geometric, traffic control, or technological solutions to address transportation system deficiencies, and develop innovative solutions to plan for and adapt to the growth of technology in transportation.
  • Develop and implement transportation plans, corridor plans, transit studies, and similar plans/reports for state/local governments or agencies.
  • Manage section of professionals to comply with project scope and client requirements.
  • Promote and conduct branding of HDR to the industry and client community, and serve as the face of HDR to executive management, board members, and project management staff of clients.
  • Work on select key projects and provide technical expertise to develop project budgets, monitor and direct tasks, provide quality control reviews, and oversight as needed.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Urban Planning, or closely related field.
  • 15 years of experience working on corridor planning and traffic-related projects.
  • PE or AICP certification.
  • MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) skills.
  • Progressive experience managing traffic analysis and planning tasks and projects.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong conceptual, organizational, problem-solving, and analytical abilities.
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant in our employee-owned culture.
  • Experience developing winning teams, championing pursuits, and preparing proposals.
Preferred Qualifications
  • PTOE certification.
  • RSP I or II certification.
  • Experience with traffic analysis modeling software (e.g., Synchro, TransModeler, and Vissim).
  • Understanding and experience with planning-level traffic analysis and forecasting.
  • Experience working with Ohio DOT and Ohio Municipalities.
  • Experience working on multimodal projects.
