Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Traffic and Planning Section Manager to join our Ohio team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in traffic analysis and planning, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and a passion for advancing the transportation profession.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage projects and tasks that include traffic elements, arterial and freeway corridor studies, feasibility studies, transportation NEPA projects, alternative evaluation reports, and design of roadway, bicycle, pedestrian, and transit projects.
  • Collaborate with multimodal teams of planners, engineers, technical specialists, and communications specialists to deliver high-quality projects.
  • Assess traffic operations and safety using modeling software and identify geometric, traffic control, or technological solutions to address existing transportation system deficiencies.
  • Research and identify new and innovative solutions to plan for and adapt to the growth of technology in transportation.
  • Write data-backed and compelling multimodal plans and studies, and share project work and conclusions with project team members, clients, and the public.
  • Coordinate with HDR regional traffic and planning priorities and national transit/transportation leadership to drive growth of market sectors in the Ohio area.
  • Manage a section of professionals to comply with project scope and client requirements, and promote and conduct branding of HDR to the industry and client community.
  • Serve as a project director or project manager for key projects, or contribute in a support role as appropriate.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Urban Planning, or a closely related field.
  • 15 years of experience working on corridor planning and traffic-related projects.
  • PE or AICP certification.
  • MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) skills.
  • Progressive experience managing traffic analysis and planning tasks and projects.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
