Position OverviewThis role serves as a liaison between patients, payers, and healthcare team members, facilitating patient tracking and billing by obtaining and verifying accurate demographic information, securing financial responsibility, and collecting out-of-pocket payments to maximize hospital reimbursement.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain compliance with EMTALA, DNV, HIPAA, and other hospital and government regulations.
- Provide exceptional customer service, understanding customer needs, and building quality relationships.
- Answer telephones professionally, record messages, and communicate with medical staff.
- Obtain and verify demographic information, and enter it into the patient accounting system.
- Verify insurance benefits, confirm payors, and obtain authorizations as required.
- Maximize collection efficiency and accuracy by pursuing collections at the time of service.
- Scan registration and clinical documentation, and maintain medical records.
- Assist with patient transfers, respond to medical record requests, and maintain logs.
- High School Diploma or GED, required.
- 1 year of patient registration and insurance verification experience, required; 2 years preferred.
- Emergency Department registration experience, strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of various insurance plans and payors, required.
- Basic understanding of medical terminology, excellent customer service, and working knowledge of MS Office.
