Overview:
Creative Audio is seeking a technically proficient Sound Designer to contribute to our award-winning projects. This role is integral to the development of the next generation of Social VR within Meta's Horizon platform.

The position is part of the Sound Design team, requiring close collaboration with Engineering, Art, and Product Design teams to define sound functionalities, implement advanced solutions, enhance performance, improve tools, and troubleshoot complex issues.

This role demands critical thinking and problem-solving skills, offering ample opportunities for creativity and innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Sound Designer (Horizon) Duties:
Develop creative solutions for unique challenges in immersive audio

Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to deliver engaging experiences

Engage closely with Engineering on audio features, performance tuning, optimization, and bug resolution

Familiarize, support, and enhance a complex cross-disciplinary development environment and workflow

Assist fellow Sound Designers with advanced implementation techniques and functionalities

Balance quality and performance considerations in long-term project planning

Participate in quality assurance reviews, providing and receiving constructive critiques

Promote audio excellence and advocate for high standards throughout the product lifecycle

Essential Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:
4+ years of professional experience in sound design and implementation, particularly in high-quality gaming or interactive media

Proficient in implementing advanced scripting frameworks (visual scripting, C#, JavaScript, etc.) and modifying/debugging game engines (Unity, Unreal, etc.)

Experience with audio middleware (Wwise, FMOD, etc.) in terms of implementation, modification, and debugging

Familiarity with version control systems in large team settings (Perforce, Git, etc.)

Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively across various functions

Ability to thrive in a dynamic and rapidly changing environment

Desirable Qualifications:

Preferred Skills:
Experience in AR/VR development

Knowledge of spatial audio in interactive settings

Proficiency in C, C++, and C#

Understanding of object-oriented design principles

Strong grasp of 3D mathematics, linear algebra, and related techniques

Experience with real-time networking functionalities (e.g., synchronous multiplayer games)

Compensation:
$137,000/year to $191,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
