Maximus Federal is seeking a highly skilled Critical Care Specialist to join our team as a Medical Expert Reviewer. This is a 100% remote position that requires expertise in peer review for quality management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct online training and complete written reviews using MS Word software.
  • Access and review medical records through the VA EMR system.
  • Participate in peer review for quality management, focusing on clinical decisions and actions during specific clinical encounters.
  • Review and submit reviews within 3-5 business days, with expedited cases submitted within 24 hours.

Requirements:

  • Active license in any state.
  • 20 hours of direct patient care per month.
  • Board Certification within the exact specialty requested.
  • National Provider Identifier (NPI) number.

Additional Requirements:

  • 5-year experience in the appropriate specialty post-training (MD/DO).
  • Veteran Affairs Clinical Peer Review (VACPR) certification.

Compensation:

  • $125 per case for Audit Reviews (30 minutes to 1 hour).
  • $150 per case for Clinical Appeals (rare, 30 minutes to 1 hour).
  • $125 per case for Executive Summary Reports (30 minutes to 1 hour).
  • $150 per case for Facility-Requested Reviews (30 minutes to 1 hour).
  • $375 per case for Medical Advisory Opinions (2-3 hours).
  • $150 per case for Routine Management Reviews (30 minutes to 1 hour).

Volume of Cases:

The volume of cases varies between 0-10 cases per month, dependent on the types and amounts of cases received by the VA.

Additional Requirements:

Providers will be required to obtain a Personal Identify Verification (PIV) card and fingerprints, with project support for this requirement.
