Job Title: Interior Designer K-12 Education

DLR Group is seeking an experienced Interior Designer to join our K-12 Education team. As an Interior Designer, you will be responsible for collaborating with our design team to create innovative and functional spaces for K-12 education projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop technical solutions to design challenges with creativity and design excellence.
  • Integrate QA/QC, practice standards, and DLR Group protocols to ensure high-quality design outcomes.
  • Assist with maintaining project schedule and coordination of project deliverables.
  • Demonstrate a strong ability in conceptual design, program development, and space planning expertise.
  • Possess a holistic design acumen that addresses 3D space, functionality, and alignment with programmatic needs.
  • Design, document, and detail ideas that are constructable and align with DLR Group's sustainable commitments.
  • Create graphic presentations to clearly communicate design intent and storytelling.
  • Attend site walks and/or construction administration meetings regularly and articulate the value and critical aspects of coordination with our integrated practice.
  • Demonstrate a strong willingness to continue to grow, learn, and mentor.
  • Have strong client, project management, and time management skills.
  • Prepare and develop drawings, models, images, material & mood boards, and other documents relating to the design.
  • Work both independently and effectively in a cross-disciplinary team atmosphere and across multiple offices.
  • Have strong creative design and drawing skills, graphic and oral design presentation skills, capacity for conceptual design thinking, and 3D design/modeling ability.
  • Take initiative and demonstrate personal ownership of tasks.
Qualifications:
  • 6-10+ years of experience designing and delivering K-12 Education projects.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design.
  • CID, NCIDQ, or equivalent accreditation.
  • LEED accreditation preferred.
  • Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Understanding of financial aspects of running a design project on time and on budget.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Interest in sustainable building design.
