Position Overview

The selected candidate will play a pivotal role in advancing R&D initiatives aimed at integrating digital technologies, such as instrumentation, control systems, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and robotics, within the commercial nuclear power industry. This effort is essential for transitioning from traditional labor-intensive operations to a more technology-driven approach in plant management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct research and development on digital technologies to address modernization challenges in existing nuclear power facilities.
  • Lead and participate in projects, defining technical strategies, execution plans, budgets, and resource allocation.
  • Collaborate with other researchers and align R&D activities with the objectives of industry stakeholders, vendors, and regulatory bodies.
  • Establish new partnerships within the industry, including the formulation of non-disclosure and cooperative research agreements to foster the adoption of digital technologies.
  • Present findings at scientific and industry conferences, engaging with technical audiences and partners.
  • Document research outcomes through reports and publications.
  • Drive the development of intellectual property, including patents and copyrights, to facilitate technology transfer.
  • Provide mentorship to junior staff, post-doctoral researchers, and interns.
  • Occasional travel may be necessary to support collaborative efforts.
  • This position reports directly to the Department Manager.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Level 3: Bachelor's degree with 5 years of relevant experience; Master's degree with 2 years; or PhD with 2 years.
  • Level 4: Bachelor's degree with 9 years of relevant experience; Master's degree with 6 years; or PhD with 4 years.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the technical and regulatory challenges associated with digital technologies in nuclear power.
  • Extensive network and professional relationships within the nuclear industry.
Compensation and Benefits
  • Competitive salary range for Level 3: $109,000 - $223,000; Level 4: $130,000 - $268,000, based on education and experience.
