Job Summary: The Chief Executive Officer serves as the principal leader accountable for local community influence and asset enhancement of the Community Foundation for Carver County (CFCC), an operational segment of CommunityGiving. This role involves representing the Foundation to the CFCC Board and CommunityGiving, fostering relationships with diverse organizations, donors, grant applicants, and the nonprofit sector. The CEO is dedicated to creating a positive and fulfilling experience for donors and potential contributors, ensuring the Foundation's sustainability and success in its mission to engage individuals, connect resources, and strengthen community.

Key Responsibilities

The Chief Executive Officer of the Community Foundation for Carver County will undertake the following responsibilities:

Strategic Visioning and Planning: Collaborate with the CFCC Board of Directors and staff to formulate, lead, and execute long-term objectives and immediate strategies aimed at enhancing the Foundation's overall community impact and asset growth. Work alongside CommunityGiving and partner foundations to establish and maintain mutually beneficial collaborations that promote community development.

Grantmaking and Community Engagement: Oversee CFCC's grantmaking and community program initiatives, including special projects and partnerships with other foundations and corporations. Lead CFCC's signature community initiatives and represent CFCC in significant community collaborations, advocating for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.

Asset Development and Fundraising: Manage CFCC's asset growth and fundraising efforts. Develop and implement strategies to achieve fundraising objectives, focusing on increasing unrestricted funds and major gift acquisition. Build and maintain relationships with major donors and professional advisors.

Board Engagement: Keep the CFCC Board of Directors and the President & CEO of CommunityGiving informed about all matters affecting CFCC's performance. Ensure the Board comprises diverse, committed, and engaged community members, encouraging active participation in the Foundation's success.

Financial Oversight: Collaborate with the CommunityGiving finance team to prepare, implement, and oversee the annual CFCC budget. Provide responsible reporting of financial activities and investment performance to the Board and relevant stakeholders.

Personnel Management: Work with CommunityGiving Human Resource services to hire, evaluate, and guide CFCC staff, fostering a cooperative and professional work environment. Offer educational and advancement opportunities for staff.

Marketing and Communications: Partner with the CommunityGiving marketing team to develop and execute a Marketing Plan for CFCC, ensuring timely and engaging communication with donors and advisors. Lead public relations activities for CFCC and support the implementation of CommunityGiving brand standards.

Community Relations and Events: Act as the primary community representative for CFCC, knowledgeable about the local philanthropic and nonprofit landscape. Oversee all CFCC and associate foundation events, setting annual goals and guiding staff and consultants to ensure event success.

Collaboration and Leadership: Participate in the overall CommunityGiving leadership team, fostering collaborative systems to support all partner and associate foundations, including educational opportunities and services. Stay informed about regional, state, and national philanthropic trends and represent CommunityGiving and CFCC in various advisory and affinity groups.

Additional Duties: Perform other responsibilities as required by CFCC and CommunityGiving policies and procedures.

Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Familiarity with the broader Carver County area, including community leaders, key donors, and significant local issues. Understanding of the National Standards for Community Foundations and the role of community foundations in addressing local challenges. Commitment to exceptional customer service and understanding of the grantmaking process. Strong facilitation, communication, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Attention to detail and the ability to lead and manage volunteers and staff effectively in a dynamic environment.
