The Department of Workforce Services (DWS) is seeking a dedicated and skilled Senior Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor to contribute to our Utah State Office of Rehabilitation (USOR) team.

This role will enable you to utilize the latest methodologies in rehabilitation counseling while fostering robust collaborations with various agencies and programs to assist clients in entering or re-entering the workforce.

Key Responsibilities

The Senior Rehabilitation Counselor will undertake the following duties:
1. Deliver counseling services to a diverse caseload, including transition youth aged 14-24.
2. Provide comprehensive vocational counseling, guidance, training, and selective job placement services for individuals with disabilities.
3. Collaborate with community partners and vendors to coordinate agency initiatives and achieve organizational objectives.
4. Conduct outreach activities, including visits to schools, parents, business partners, and community organizations.
5. Exercise considerable independent judgment in decision-making processes.

This position may be filled at a lower level as a Rehabilitation Counselor I or a Rehabilitation Trainee, depending on qualifications.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess:
1. A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in rehabilitation counseling or a related discipline.
2. Experience in vocational rehabilitation counseling or related fields such as employment counseling, job development, placement, career coaching, or academic training for individuals with disabilities.
3. Proven experience in delivering direct services to individuals with disabilities.

Preferred Qualifications:
Preference may be given to candidates who are current employees of the State of Utah and those with one or more years of professional counseling experience.
