Overview
If you are passionate about providing guidance and support to individuals with disabilities in their journey towards employment and self-sufficiency, this position may be ideal for you. The Department of Workforce Services (DWS) is looking for a dedicated and experienced Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor II to become part of our Utah State Office of Rehabilitation (USOR) team.
This role offers the opportunity to utilize contemporary methods in rehabilitation counseling while fostering strong collaborations with various agencies and programs to assist clients in entering or re-entering the workforce.
Key Responsibilities
The Rehabilitation Counselor II is responsible for:
- Delivering counseling services to a diverse caseload, including transition youth aged 14-24.
- Providing comprehensive vocational counseling, guidance, training, and job placement services to individuals with disabilities.
- Engaging with the community and conducting outreach to vendors to coordinate agency activities and achieve agency objectives.
- Traveling regularly to connect with schools, parents, business partners, and community organizations.
- Exercising significant independent decision-making in service delivery.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in rehabilitation counseling or a related field.
- Experience in vocational rehabilitation counseling or similar fields, including employment counseling, job development, and career coaching for individuals with disabilities.
- Direct service experience with individuals with disabilities.
Additional Preferences
Preference may be given to candidates who are current employees of the State of Utah and those with one or more years of professional counseling experience.
