Job Overview

This role is part of our Lunar Permanence business unit, focused on building sustainable infrastructure for transport from Earth to the Lunar Surface. We're looking for an experienced Senior Materials Engineer to support metallic materials including additive manufacturing (AM).

Responsibilities:

  • Broad support for metallic materials including AM, forging, casting, forming, extrusion, plating, coating, welding, brazing, anodization, and passivation.
  • Support design, analysis, materials selection, process development, and M&P qualification for space vehicles.
  • Review production drawings for large complex assemblies systematically, documenting the review to established requirements.
  • Lead and coordinate internal and external M&P efforts for additive manufacturing, including material specifications, process specifications, supplier qualifications, part qualifications, mechanical testing, and customer-facing updates.
  • Support the development of internal engineering and quality processes to standardize and accelerate material evaluation, implementation, and qualification.
  • Collaborate with design engineers to ensure part designs are compatible with AM processes.
  • Work with cross-functional teams within the Lunar organization and other business units.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in Aerospace, Material Science, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of demonstrated AM M&P Engineering experience on a production flight or space program.
  • Experience with AM aluminum and/or titanium for aerospace applications.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and executing part qualification test plans for AM components.
  • Familiarity with standard methods for testing mechanical properties of aerospace-grade materials.

Estimated Salary Range: $120,000 - $180,000 per year.
