Design Reliability Engineer

At SpaceX, we're pushing the boundaries of space exploration and development. As a Design Reliability Engineer, you'll play a critical role in ensuring the success of our missions by developing and implementing reliable design solutions for our spacecraft and launch vehicles.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain design criteria and requirements for flight hardware and operations
  • Provide peer review and approval of hardware designs during design reviews and acceptance test campaigns
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive improvements to vehicle design and operations
  • Setup and implement new processes to enable reliable aircraft-like operations of launch vehicles and spacecraft
  • Develop specialized design and analysis tools for other engineering groups
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline
  • 2+ years of professional experience in an engineering role
  • Experience with aircraft, launch vehicles, spacecraft, or other aerospace systems
  • Experience with at least one commercial FEA package (NASTRAN, ABAQUS, or ANSYS)
Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • Master's degree in an engineering discipline
  • Hardware experience performing fabrication, assembly, and/or testing
  • Experience with electromechanical system design, analysis, testing, and fabrication for use in high-performance or safety-critical applications
  • Hands-on experience with various industry-standard manufacturing tools, techniques, and processes
  • Scripting and data analysis experience using Visual Basic, Matlab, Python, and Excel
Additional Requirements:
  • Must be available to work long hours and weekends as necessary
Compensation and Benefits:

Base salary range: $95,000 - $115,000 per year

Eligible for long-term incentives, discretionary bonuses, and comprehensive benefits package

Access to Employee Stock Purchase Plan and 401(k) retirement plan

3 weeks of paid vacation and 10+ paid holidays per year

Exempt employees eligible for 5 days of sick leave per year
