Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Surgical Technologist to join our team at the University of New Mexico. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our operating rooms and providing exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist surgeons and anesthesiologists during surgical procedures, maintaining a sterile environment and ensuring the proper handling of instruments and equipment.
  • Prepare and maintain surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies, adhering to strict sterile protocols.
  • Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure efficient and safe surgical procedures, including patient positioning, draping, and specimen handling.
  • Participate in pre-operative and post-operative patient care, including vital sign monitoring and documentation.
  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of surgical procedures, including anatomy, physiology, and surgical techniques.
  • Communicate effectively with the surgical team, including surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nurses, to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of surgical procedures, including patient information, surgical techniques, and outcomes.
Requirements
  • Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) or Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA)
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree or higher preferred
  • 1-2 years of experience as a Surgical Technologist or in a related field
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive patient information
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with frequent exposure to surgical procedures and patient care. The successful candidate will be able to maintain a high level of concentration and attention to detail, even in high-stress situations.
