Job Title: Director of Operations and Manufacturing

Job Summary:

Direct, plans, and coordinates the operations function and resources of facilities in relation to business growth, introduction of new operational programs and/or systems, meeting organizational financial objectives, and meeting organizational goals in relation to safety, quality, and timely delivery of products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct, monitor, and coordinate the manufacturing (operations) across two facilities in relation to budgeted and/or anticipated business growth.
  • Direct and ensure production processes and activities involved in performing metal forming, cold drawing, cold rolling, machining, welding, assembly, and thermal processing (heat treat) meet or exceed deadlines and on-time delivery goals and objectives.
  • Develop and direct the strategic direction of manufacturing processes to meet business objectives.
  • Analyze and evaluate efficiency and profitability of workflow and apply continuous improvement processes to minimize error and improve/increase productivity.
  • Participate in the day-to-day details and obstacles of the production process.
  • Direct and oversee Production Manager responsible for the oversight of Production Supervisors.
  • Participates in the analysis and implementation of new manufacturing processes and products to meet organizational objectives.
  • Ensure deadlines and on-time delivery goals and objectives are maintained and achieved.
  • Direct, facilitate, and drive process improvement to reduce waste and improve labor and process efficiencies.
  • Establish and provide regular interval reporting on key performance indicators/metrics.
  • Support the development of production supervisors throughout multiple shifts.
  • Establish performance goals and metrics for direct reports and team.
  • Prepare, maintain, and report out production status and reports.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional departments.
  • Recommend, initiate, or execute personnel actions, including terminations, and performance management.
  • Participate in the recruitment life cycle, including interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and training employees.
  • Manage and monitor employees and performance through coaching, counseling, monitoring, and appraising work performance.
  • Works with cross-functional teams and collaborates with other members of management and contributes to a team effort.
  • Ensure environmental, health, and safety policies are followed in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Conduct and perform training as needed or required.
  • Demonstrates ability to appear for work on time, follow directions from a supervisor, interact well with co-workers, understand, work expected hours, and follow work rules and procedures, comply with company policies and procedures, goals, and objectives, and accepts constructive feedback.
  • Other duties as assigned, requested, or needed.

Requirements:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and experience.
  • Eight (8) years' experience in manufacturing with product management oversight.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of metal fabrication and/or machining methods preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Advanced understanding of manufacturing product life cycle.
  • Advanced understanding of enterprise resource program systems, product planning, and scheduling.
  • Ability to work in diverse and team environment.
