Job Overview:

This role – OPTICAL COATING DEPARTMENT MANAGER - entails leading a Coating Department comprising Coating Engineers and Technicians. The ideal candidate will be responsible for:
Scheduling: Collaborating with the team to meet multiple program needs, including attending production meetings, assigning projects, managing coating chamber resources, and resolving conflicts.
Equipment Oversight: Working with the equipment manager to maintain and repair coating chambers and accessories, as well as service measurement instruments.
Promoting a Culture of Excellence: Conducting yearly performance reviews, career development, communication through regular staff meetings, and ensuring adherence to standard processes.
Technical Guidance: Emphasizing quality and safety while fostering technical discipline to meet aerospace standards. Providing support for root cause analyses and implementing corrective measures.
Strategic Planning: Partnering with Program Managers and Operations Manager to develop plans for future staffing and equipment needs.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in a technical field (physics, chemistry, engineering)
  • 6-10+ years of experience
  • Aerospace industry experience beneficial
  • Skills in Thin Films, Coating, Vacuum Chambers
  • Acceptable Job Titles: Manager, Team Leader, Supervisor, Engineer
  • Experience in management, preferably departmental
  • Strong technical aptitude for coating deposition processes and vacuum technology

Compensation: Estimated salary range $90,000 - $120,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
