Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Server - Carpenter Hotel to join our team. As a Server - Carpenter Hotel, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, ensuring that our guests have a memorable experience at El Cosmico.
Responsibilities
- Escort customers to their tables and ensure that they have everything they need.
- Present menus to patrons and answer questions about menu items, making recommendations upon request.
- Describe and recommend wines to customers, taking into account their preferences and dietary restrictions.
- Check patrons' identification to ensure that they meet minimum age requirements for consumption of alcoholic beverages.
- Explain how various menu items are prepared, describing ingredients and cooking methods.
- Serve food or beverages to patrons, and prepare or serve specialty dishes at tables as required.
- Inform customers of daily specials and make recommendations based on their preferences.
- Write patrons' food orders on order slips, memorize orders, or enter orders into computers for transmittal to kitchen staff.
- Take orders from patrons for food or beverage, ensuring that they are accurate and complete.
- Must see to each guest's special needs, such as dietary restrictions or requests for special accommodations.
- Garnish and decorate dishes in preparation for serving.
- Assist with running of food, ensuring that it is delivered to the correct table and in a timely manner.
- Check with customers to ensure that they are enjoying their meals and take action to correct any problems.
- Manage order times and inform guests of any delays in service, taking steps to mitigate any negative impact.
- Suggest and describe desserts or coffee at the completion of the guest's meal.
- Prepare checks that itemize and total meal costs and sales taxes.
- Collect payments from customers, ensuring that they are accurate and complete.
- Remove dishes and glasses from tables or counters, and take them to the kitchen for cleaning.
- Clean tables or counters after patrons have finished dining, ensuring that they are clean and sanitized.
- Prepare tables for meals, including setting up items such as linens, silverware, and glassware.
- Perform food and beverage preparation duties, such as preparing salads, appetizers, and cold dishes, portioning desserts, brewing coffee, preparing hot or cold drinks, chilling wine.
- Stock service areas with supplies, such as coffee, food, tableware, and linens.
- Fills salt, pepper, sugar, cream, condiment, and napkin containers.
- Bring wine selections to tables with appropriate glasses, and pour the wines for customers.
Requirements
- High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Six (6) months related experience in hospitality or service industry
- Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) of the workplace
