To provide additional assistance to keep identified patients safe from self-harm, ensuring a safe environment and promoting diversionary activities as necessary.
Key Responsibilities- Directly observe identified patient(s) at all times during assigned shift
- Remove items from patient room/surroundings that are potentially dangerous
- Ensure implementation of patient safety protocols (elopement precautions)
- Maintain patient's privacy and ensure confidentiality
- Assist patient with routine activities, such as meal selection and meal tray set-up
- Coordinate care with appropriate hospital personnel, including Lead RN or assigned RN, Security, and other staff as needed
- Document implementation of safety protocols, including proof of observation and other protocols on flow sheet
- Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position
- Work may occasionally require travel to other Carle Health facilities/hospitals
- Ability to drive own vehicle for business purposes
- Writes, reads, comprehends, and speaks fluent English
- Basic computer knowledge using word processing, spreadsheet, email, and web browser
- Multicultural sensitivity
- Critical thinking skills using independent judgment in making decisions
