The Special Needs Educational Support Assistant plays a crucial role in the implementation of our Special Education Program. This position involves collaborating with the ESS Coordinator and Special Education teachers to support students with various exceptionalities, including but not limited to autism, developmental delays, and emotional disabilities.
Essential Qualifications:
- High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid background check clearance.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.
- Certifications: Successful completion of a paraprofessional exam, CPI, or TACT-2.
- Experience in special education settings is a plus.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist students with disabilities in various educational settings, including general education classrooms and small groups.
- Promote positive behavior and reinforce expectations.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding student records and progress.
- Support the preparation of educational materials for individual students or small groups.
- Provide feedback on student progress to the ESS Coordinator and Special Education teachers.
- Assist in the implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Reinforce concepts taught by special education teachers.
- Support administrative tasks as needed.
- Ensure consistent attendance and punctuality.
- May be designated to provide training in verbal de-escalation techniques.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
