Assistant Director, Finance

Job Summary

Tarleton State University seeks a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Director, Finance to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing complex and highly responsible job duties in the preparation, maintenance, and control of the day-to-day accounting functions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assists in developing and implementing accounting guidelines and financial policies and procedures.
  • Monitors and analyzes university accounting needs and works with high-level stakeholders to address financial issues.
  • Plans, assigns, and supervises the work of others.
  • Assists in the coordination and management of the effective and efficient operations of financial activities in compliance with system and state fiscal policies.
  • Initiates, implements, and trains staff in accounting processes and software.
  • Assists in conducting analytical studies such as trend analysis, break-even analysis, performance measurement, and expenditure/revenue analysis utilizing expertise in financial areas and prepares and presents reports on findings and recommendations for improvements.
  • Coordinates year-end accounting functions.
  • Leads and assists in the development of the Annual Financial Report.
  • Assists in gathering and analyzing financial and statistical information and evaluates and monitors administrative functions.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or another related field.
  • Seven years of related experience.
  • Master's Degree Preferred.
  • Experience in Higher Education/State Agency financial/Budgetary Activities preferred.
