Role Summary:

We are currently seeking a dedicated School Custodian to join our operational support team. This position is essential for maintaining cleanliness and performing general maintenance tasks within the school facilities. The custodian will collaborate closely with the Custodian Foreman and will be responsible for ensuring that all areas of the school are safe, clean, and well-maintained.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct daily inspections to ensure all cleaning equipment is functional and supplies are adequately stocked.
  • Oversee the cleanliness of the school environment, including classrooms, restrooms, and common areas.
  • Perform general cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, and trash disposal.
  • Assist with minor repairs in plumbing, electrical systems, and general maintenance tasks.
  • Coordinate with the supervisor to establish work schedules and assign tasks based on individual skills.
  • Provide on-the-job training to new staff members as needed.

Maintenance Duties:

  • Ensure that all school facilities are maintained to a high standard of cleanliness.
  • Perform routine checks on plumbing and electrical systems, reporting any issues promptly.
  • Assist with grounds maintenance, including debris removal and landscaping tasks.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in custodial or maintenance roles.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions effectively.
  • Physical capability to perform maintenance tasks, including lifting and moving heavy objects.

Working Conditions:

This position involves both indoor and outdoor work, requiring adaptability to various weather conditions. The custodian will be exposed to cleaning chemicals and may encounter physical demands associated with maintenance tasks.
