Responsibilities:
* Provide temporary and emergency care for sick and injured students or staff
* Screen, evaluate, and refer students for findings of deficits in vision, hearing, and development
* Notify parents of accidents or illnesses and secure medical care for students in emergency cases
* Coordinate management systems to administer medications to students at school
* Develop and coordinate continuing education of campus health programs
* Maintain, evaluate, and interpret cumulative health data to accommodate individual student needs
* Provide crisis intervention for acute illnesses and injuries
* Authorize exclusion and re-admission of students in connection with infectious and contagious diseases
* Provide individual health education and counseling to students and parents
* Promote and assist in the control of communicable disease
* Serve as a health liaison between school, physicians, parents, and community
* Assess student problems and make appropriate referrals
* Participate in Admission, Review, and Dismissal Committee, crisis team, and school committees
* Participate in assessment and reporting of suspected child abuse
* Review and evaluate immunization records
* Enforce procedures to ensure proper program administration
* Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents
* Requisition supplies and equipment needed to maintain clinic inventory
* Prepare and submit reports for the Superintendent, Coordinator of Health Services, Department of Health and Senior Services, and the Missouri State Board of Health
* Report potential health and safety hazards to the principal
Requirements:
* Valid Missouri state license to practice as a registered nurse (or LPN, where applicable)
* BSN in nursing (where applicable)
* Two years of experience in a school setting or community health preferred
* CPR certified
* E-verify eligible
* Maintain certification in CPR, vision and hearing screening, and as a health screener
* Model behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible
