We are seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team at Bon Secours Mercy Health. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, promoting health and well-being, and working collaboratively with our interdisciplinary team to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities- Provide respiratory care services to patients of all ages, including neonates, infants, children, adults, and geriatrics.
- Assess patient needs and develop individualized care plans to meet their unique respiratory care requirements.
- Administer oxygen therapy, aerosol therapy, and other respiratory treatments as prescribed by physicians.
- Perform pulmonary function tests, including spirometry and peak flow measurements.
- Conduct patient education and training on respiratory care techniques and devices.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to develop and implement care plans that promote patient safety and quality of life.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and outcomes.
- Current Respiratory Care License in the state of employment.
- National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) certification.
- BLS Basic Life Support - American Heart Association (AHA) certification.
- ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support - AHA or Red Cross certification.
- PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support - AHA certification.
- NRP Neonatal Resuscitation Program - American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) certification.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification (preferred).
- Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT) certification (preferred).
- Associate Degree from an American Medical Association (AMA) approved school for Respiratory Care.
- Bachelor's degree (preferred).
- At least one year of experience in an acute care setting, with demonstrated clinical competency in at least two of the following environments: nursery/NICU, PICU, ICU/CCU, ED, and general care areas.
This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads. The Respiratory Therapist may be exposed to high noise levels, bright lights, and physical altercations. The position also requires the ability to work independently and as part of a team, with occasional travel to off-site locations.
