Position Summary: The Senior Cost Analyst plays a critical role in delivering financial insights for operational and commercial expenditures. Reporting to the Manager of Operations FP&A, this position involves collaboration with key stakeholders across operations, commercial, and finance sectors, focusing on the North American region. The analyst will engage closely with operational teams to establish processes, review actual expenditures, manage budgeting, forecasting, and productivity, and ensure accurate month-end operational closures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive analyses of costs related to various business functions.
- Assess cost trends and discrepancies to pinpoint opportunities for cost savings or efficiency enhancements.
- Devise and execute cost-effective strategies to boost overall company profitability.
- Prepare and present detailed financial reports, including cost analysis, to senior management while collaborating with accounting teams for precise and timely financial reporting.
- Assist in the formulation and oversight of budgets, providing insights to align with organizational objectives and contribute to the forecasting process with accurate, data-driven cost projections.
- Identify and implement process improvement opportunities, working alongside cross-functional teams to optimize financial workflows and enhance overall efficiency.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret complex financial data, maintaining databases and systems for effective data retrieval and reporting.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in finance, preferably in cost or plant accounting.
- Experience with SAP or ERP systems is highly desirable.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, with strong analytical skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently.
- Demonstrated initiative and thoroughness in managing responsibilities.
- Experience in building and nurturing productive relationships with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to navigate diverse business and technology environments at both strategic and tactical levels.
- Strong analytical skills with a focus on problem identification and resolution.
- Prior experience collaborating directly with executives or senior management is preferred.
