Job Description

The Principal of an Elementary School is responsible for providing innovative, collaborative, and forward-thinking leadership to ensure the success of every student. The principal directs all matters pertaining to implementation of the District's approved instructional program at the school level, ensures efficient operation of the school's physical plant, business, and technology services, and oversees all extracurricular programs.

Essential Functions
  • Establish a Culture of Excellence: Facilitate the development, articulation, and implementation of a college, career, and citizenship-ready education.
  • Develop and Sustain a School Focused on Teaching and Learning: Ensure strong professional cultures that support student achievement through the CSD Response-to-Intervention (RTI) Framework of evidence-based practices.
  • Ensure Effective Management of the School: Strategically allocate and align resources to address diverse student needs, legal requirements, and equity goals.
  • Cultivate a Positive, Collaborative Environment: Embrace and provide for meaningful parent involvement at the school by adhering to all laws and District directives regarding the School Community Council.
  • Provide Leadership in Collaboration with Parents and Cities: Ensure students' safe passage to school, a safe environment at school, and a safe climate at all school-sponsored activities.
  • Collaborate with the District and Outside Agencies: Provide outstanding customer service and manage the development, implementation, and evaluation of programs to maintain appropriate student behavior and discipline.
  • Manage Budgets and Allocate Resources: Provide fiscal accountability for all aspects of the school's operation, including reaching school goals.
  • Articulate a School Vision and Strategies: Integrate current and future educational technology to ensure its use in delivering core curriculum in innovative and effective ways.
  • Work Closely with the School Board and Community: Address current and future facilities needs and provide appropriate support, encouragement, and guidance to educational support staff.
  • Establish and Enforce an Environment of Inclusion: Ensure all students, parents, and employees are welcomed and free from discrimination on the basis of race, ethnicity, sex, religion, disability, pregnancy, and sexual orientation.
Qualification Requirements
  • Incumbent must be fingerprinted and clear a criminal backgrounds check.
  • Requires a Master's Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Requires a valid Professional Educator License for the State of Utah with a License Area of Concentration of Administrative/Supervisory (K-12) or School Leadership.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of K-12 or higher education administrative experience preferred.
