Key Responsibilities:

  • Efficiently process customer transactions at the register, ensuring accurate itemization and total amounts.
  • Handle payments in cash, check, or credit, providing correct change and transaction receipts.
  • Maintain daily transaction records to balance the cash drawer at the start and end of each shift.
  • Keep your workspace and surrounding areas organized and presentable.
  • Assist in processing NICS firearm background checks.
  • Support gun room maintenance and cleanliness.
  • Physically manage multiple gun boxes, including navigating stairs.
  • Guide customers across the store to escalators as needed.
  • Read, write, and comprehend simple instructions and correspondence.
  • Exhibit strong multitasking, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Publisher, Excel, and Google Docs.
  • Perform basic calculations for discounts, interest, commissions, and percentages.
  • Promote the Scheels Visa Rewards card, clearly explaining its benefits.
  • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Resolve issues involving multiple concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned.
  • Ensure all firearm sales paperwork, including form 4473 and background checks, is accurately completed.

Education & Experience:

The ideal candidate will possess a high school diploma or GED, along with 1-3 months of cashiering experience.

Physical Requirements:

Must be capable of sitting, standing, bending, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, pushing/pulling, lifting, talking, and hearing, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Heavy lifting is required, with the ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, 50 pounds frequently, and 20 pounds constantly.
