Purpose: The Cleaning Operations Specialist is tasked with maintaining the overall hygiene and cleanliness of the facility to promote a positive experience for all members.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough cleaning and sanitization of restrooms, locker rooms, shower areas, stall walls, doors, and waste disposal areas, including sinks, vanities, and mirrors.
- Inspect and clean all windows and window frames, both inside and outside.
- Perform detailed cleaning of baseboards, wall trim, walls, and handrails throughout the facility, ensuring all surfaces are free from handprints, scuff marks, and dust.
- Dust and clean all air vents, televisions, signage, storage or glass doors, and light fixtures.
- Remove or compact trash from all waste areas.
- Vacuum all rubber or tile flooring throughout the gym, including auxiliary rooms and beneath gym equipment.
- Mop or scrub all rubber or tile flooring throughout the gym, including auxiliary rooms and beneath gym equipment.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in all storage areas, ensuring products are properly arranged on shelves and all loose boxes and trash are discarded.
- Assist management with inventory of cleaning supplies, providing feedback on usage and required quantities.
- Educate and train part-time cleaning staff to excel in their job responsibilities and performance.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Previous custodial experience is preferred.
- Demonstrated excellent attendance and punctuality.
- Exhibit honesty and a strong work ethic.
- Possess strong communication skills with both internal and external customers.
- Must be team-oriented, motivated, and well-organized.
- Ability to think critically and proactively evaluate solutions to challenges.
- Work Environment: This role operates within a fitness center environment and routinely utilizes standard cleaning equipment such as chemicals, floor scrubbers, and vacuums. The noise level in the facility may be high. Duties will include working in lavatory areas.
- Physical Demands: The physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate verbally and audibly. The employee frequently stands, walks, uses hands to handle or feel, and reaches with hands and arms. Occasionally, the employee may sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and move objects up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee will frequently encounter cleaning chemicals, dust, and moisture.
- Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a part-time, non-exempt position. Non-exempt employees are entitled to minimum wage and/or overtime pay protections. Expected work hours range from 20-30 hours per week, typically including weekdays and weekends between 7 am - 7 pm. This position may require work outside of normal business hours, including evenings and weekends as needed. Hours are subject to change based on business needs.
