Paid Financial Accounting Internship with the YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago at $17 per hour

The YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago is looking for an intern to assist our finance and accounting team. This role will involve occasional travel to various locations within the city.

As part of this internship program, you will gain valuable insights and hands-on experience in financial management. The intern will collaborate with program leaders across different YMCA locations to ensure data accuracy and financial compliance within the Association's systems. Key responsibilities will include managing accounts receivable, billing processes, data analysis, and reporting, all of which will significantly influence the Association's operations.

Each intern will be assigned to a specific YMCA hub and will work closely with the Billing Coordinator, reporting directly to the Asset Manager of their designated site. Flexibility to travel to multiple sites in a single day is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support management in processing financial aid applications
  • Assist the Billing Coordinator in preparing documentation for financial aid applicants
  • Collaborate with Program Directors to manage attendance data for scholarship recipients
  • Generate weekly accounts receivable reports and assist in communication with third-party agencies regarding pending cases
  • Help maintain secure documentation for all third-party recipient files
  • Act as a backup during weekly discussions with the Billing Coordinator and Program Director
  • Participate in various ad hoc projects as needed
Qualifications:
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Willingness to travel to various locations during work hours
  • Current college coursework in Accounting
  • At least two years of college coursework focused on Accounting
