Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Montessori Educational Assistant to join our team at the Archdiocese of San Antonio. As a key member of our educational staff, you will play a vital role in supporting our Catholic school's mission by assisting the classroom teacher in planning, guiding, and educating students in a loving, Christ-centered environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Classroom Teacher: Assist the teacher in planning, preparing, and implementing instructional activities, including creating materials, teaching aids, and bulletin boards.
  • Student Supervision: Provide supervision to students before, during, and after school, including during loading and unloading of buses or cars, on the playground, and in the cafeteria.
  • Classroom Management: Assist the teacher in maintaining a clean and orderly environment, enforcing classroom rules, and maintaining accurate records.
  • Instructional Support: Provide instructional assistance to students, including leading small group activities and assisting with personal hygiene, health, and safety issues.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively with the teacher, students, parents, and other staff members to ensure a smooth and efficient educational experience.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent General Education Diploma (GED)
  • Experience: Experience working with children, preferably in a school or educational setting
  • Skills: Ability to relate and communicate effectively with students, teachers, and parents; ability to plan and implement instructional activities; and ability to operate technology and equipment
Working Conditions

The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced educational environment, interacting with students, teachers, and parents on a daily basis. The ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and maintain a calm and professional demeanor in a dynamic environment is essential.
