Respiratory Therapist

As a Registered Respiratory Therapist at the Detroit Medical Center, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality cardiopulmonary care to patients. Under general supervision, you will act as a professional member of the healthcare team, providing therapeutic and rehabilitative procedures and diagnostic tests for patients with or at risk of cardiopulmonary abnormalities.

You will collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare team members to develop optimal cardiopulmonary care plans for patients. Your responsibilities will include performing patient assessments, evaluating the appropriateness and effectiveness of therapy, and determining which respiratory care activities can be delegated to other care team members.

In addition, you will instruct employees and students in the principles and practices of designated respiratory care procedures/tasks and evaluate their competence. You may also function as an in-charge therapist and preceptor, as requested.

• Graduation from an AMA/CoARC approved Respiratory Care program
• Registration (RRT) by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC)
• BCLS certification required; ACLS certification preferred
• Licensure to practice as a Respiratory Therapist in the State of Michigan
