Relay Technician 2 Position

Job Summary:
As a Relay Technician 2 at M.C. Dean, Inc., you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing protective relays and associated equipment. This role requires a strong understanding of electrical systems and the ability to work in energized electrical rooms, vaults, and substations.
Key Responsibilities:
• Proficiently use hand and power tools, meters, and other test equipment to install, maintain, and repair protective relays and associated wiring and equipment.
• Apply, read, understand, review, and correct schematic, wiring diagram blueprints, and substation drawings and inspections.
• Program and operate various test equipment and exercise all safe work practices as outlined in the company safety handbook.
• Commission new relay and metering installations.
• Coordinate testing, troubleshooting, and repairs of relaying and other equipment with other department personnel.
• Perform maintenance on and testing of relays and associated equipment such as standby generators and display meters.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and replace components involved in questionable operations and failures.
• Participate in emergency callouts.
Requirements:
• High school diploma or GED is required; Associate's degree in Science is preferred.
• 5 years' experience as Relay Technician with Associate's degree or 8 years of experience in lieu of a degree.
• Valid Drivers License.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 25% - 50% of the time.
• Strong Oral, Written, and Presentation Skills.
• Demonstrated background working with multidisciplinary teams.
• Demonstrated time management and organization skills to meet deadlines and quality objectives.
• Strong MS Excel, Word, Power DB, and Smartsheet experience is a plus.
Working Conditions:
• Lifts at least 100 pounds at one time and 60 pounds for an extended period of time.
• Pulls, pushes, or drags up to 80 pounds with or without assistance.
• Relocates a 12-foot stepladder without assistance.
• Sits, stands, stoops, or twists for extended periods of time.
• Works at various heights up to 60 feet and can climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, and all types of ladders.
• Works both indoors and outdoors in extreme temperatures, including heat, cold, humidity, temperature swings, and inclement weather, frequent exposure to dust, odor, electrical, mechanical, loud noise, and toxic hazards.
• Operates hand tools, heavy equipment, light trucks, and power tools; 20/20 corrected vision is required to perform visual inspection of small defects, small parts, and operation of measurement devices and assembly of fabricated parts.
