Project Accountant II

Cadence McShane Construction Company is seeking a highly skilled Project Accountant II to join our North Dallas office. This role will be responsible for managing all project accounting duties and monitoring the financial aspects of assigned projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Independently manage all aspects of project accounting for assigned projects
  • Job billing and accounts receivable management
  • Job cost management, including journal entries and review of job cost
  • Accounts payable management, including entering and coding invoices
  • Subcontract management and payment application review and approval
  • Contract document and compliance management
  • Payment processing and cash flow management
  • Assist project manager with initial budget setup and change items
  • Monitor project budgets, costs, commitments, and make necessary adjustments
  • Assist project team with internal and external audits
  • Identify and communicate issues on the project related to billing, payments, or profit erosion to the VP of Finance
  • Attend monthly status review meetings with the project team to review the project forecast
  • Attend Legal's contract review meeting and/or review watchlist document
  • Complete project closeout and understand all items necessary for closeout
Requirements:
  • Minimum five years' experience in project/cost accounting in construction
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience with Textura or another subcontract management tool, required
  • Strong verbal and written communication, listening, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and meet deadlines, with good organizational skills
  • Strong work ethic and a positive attitude
