Job Summary:

MPC is seeking a skilled River Engineer 4 to join our Marine Repair Facility team in Catlettsburg, KY. As a critical member of our team, you will be responsible for the mechanical operation of boats and barges, working closely with vessel captains and shore-based personnel to maintain vessel operability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain decking duties, including barge work, making locks, and tasks requested by the vessel captain.
  • Perform basic preventative maintenance for the engine room.
  • Complete vessel orientation for smaller classes of vessels.
  • Safely fuel the motor vessel.
  • Perform general boat maintenance.
  • Participate in the Marine Structured Safety Process and environmental and safety initiatives.
  • Assist shore-side with vessel outages.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Ability to obtain a Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC) card.
  • Valid Tankerman Credential required.
  • Deckhand 1 Qualification Booklet must be complete and signed off by a designated Trainee.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check.
  • Must possess basic mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC skills.
