Job Summary

Nestled in the southern part of the Finger Lakes in Upstate New York, the Bath VA Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled Dentist to serve as the Associate Chief of Dental. This is a unique opportunity to join a dynamic team and contribute to the delivery of exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Chief of Dental to develop and implement clinical services for the Dental Service Line.
  • Participate in planning and oversight boards, councils, and committees to ensure integrated goals and priorities for Dental are established and met.
  • Supervise Dental Staff members at the Bath VA Dental Clinic, providing guidance and support to ensure high-quality patient care.
  • Work closely with peers in other services and management to meet the needs of the System's recognized internal and external customer groups.
  • Ensure department expenditures are within allocated budget and ensure that department supplies, equipment, etc., are ordered and purchased.
  • Ensure that the department adheres to accreditation requirements and that staff maintains licensure.
  • Assign work to subordinates, approve leave, prepare performance plans, administer discipline, resolve grievances and complaints, and provide training and awards.
  • Initiate Human Resources actions for vacant positions, interview and select candidates alongside the Dental Chief.

  • Provide professional guidance to dental hygienists and dental laboratory technicians.
  • Provide mentorship to dental team, residents, and students.
Requirements
  • A degree of Doctor of Dental Surgery or dental medicine resulting from a course of education in dentistry.
  • Completed, or currently completing, a residency program in general practice or specialty, or comparable experience as a dentist actively involved in treating medically compromised patients.
  • Currently hold, or will hold, a current, full and unrestricted license to practice dentistry in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
Preferred Experience

A minimum of 5 years experience supervising staff that includes Dentists, Dental Hygienists, Dental Assistants and Dental Lab Technicians.
