About the Role

The Credit Evaluation Specialist will be responsible for evaluating and assessing financing applications to determine creditworthiness, compliance with company policies, and alignment with regulatory standards.

This role involves providing timely and accurate decisions that support responsible lending practices while meeting customer needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze borrower financial data, credit reports, income documents, to eligibility for financing.
  • Determine the risk level associated with lending and provide recommendations for approval, denial, or modification of loan terms.
  • Verify completeness, accuracy, and authenticity of loan documentation, including employment, assets, and debt information.
  • Approve or deny loan applications based on credit risk assessment and underwriting guidelines.
  • Work closely with underwriters, processors, and other team members to gather necessary documentation and communicate credit decisions.
  • Accurately document decisions and ensure loan files are complete, organized, and updated in the system.
  • Stay updated on mortgage industry trends, regulatory changes, and underwriting best practices.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, business, accounting, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of mortgage underwriting experience.
  • Proficiency in underwriting software and familiarity with industry standards, regulations, and secondary market guidelines (FNMA/FHLMC).
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
