Job Title: Interventional Radiology Technologist

Mass General Brigham is seeking a skilled Interventional Radiology Technologist to join our team in Newton, Massachusetts.

Job Summary:

The IR Technologist will work in the Cardiovascular Center (CVC) and the OR for designated cases requiring fluoroscopy with the C-arm. This role supports multi-specialties including Cardiology, Electrophysiology, Pulmonary, Vascular, and Interventional Radiology.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform all designated interventional procedures and duties under the direct supervision of a qualified physician and/or the Lead IR Technologist.
  • Work in collaboration with the Proceduralist and/or the Lead Technologist to ensure patient care efficiencies.
  • Operate the fluoroscopy imaging equipment and ensure it is fully operational prior to each case.
  • Prepare the contrast power injector and operate it as needed.
  • Validate patient orders and participate in Universal Protocol for each procedure.
  • Maintain aseptic conditions and follow Hospital Universal Precautions.
  • Verify patient identification and respond to their needs in a timely manner.
  • Perform procedures to minimize radiation exposure to patients and employees.
  • Document all pertinent information in the EMR.
  • Assist physicians during procedures, including catheter/wire management and administration of contrast.
Requirements:
  • Associates Degree in Radiologic Technology or equivalent military training.
  • Two years of experience as a Radiologic Technologist in a hospital setting, preferably in interventional procedures.
  • Radiologic Technologist License issued by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health Radiation Control Board.
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Radiology.
  • CPR/BLS certification/training and ACLS within six months of hire.
Physical Environment:

Duties may involve long hours of standing, exposure to odors, blood, cramped quarters, and cold environment or include patient care responsibilities with subsequent exposure to human waste or other unpleasant elements and blood.

Duties involved include wearing lead protective apron, thyroid shield, and lead eye protective glasses while in procedures.
