About the Role

We are seeking a skilled LPN/LVN to join our team as a School Nurse Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for identifying and treating health disorders among students in the school setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide first aid care and medically prescribed services to students
  • Maintain the security of school health supplies and medication
  • Conduct follow-up evaluations on students as required
  • Communicate with parents on the health needs of their children
  • Record immunizations, health findings, and other relevant health data
  • Identify abnormal growth and development, symptoms of disease, and discuss with parents
  • Develop and maintain health records on students
  • Build positive working relationships with students, parents, and staff
  • Support student medical needs during transport, as applicable
Requirements
  • Current LPN/LVN license for the state in which the nurse practices
  • Current PPD or Chest X-Ray
  • One year prior professional nursing experience in a school setting, preferred
  • Pediatric experience, preferred
  • Current BLS card
  • Considerable knowledge of medical disorders and treatment
  • Considerable knowledge of child growth and development
  • Some knowledge of public health problems and procedures for treatment in coordination with other health and social service agencies
  • Some knowledge of Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations affecting the delivery of school health services
  • Understanding of the school organization and the community served
  • Ability to effectively communicate with individuals, including supervisors, coworkers, clients, via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required
  • Computer proficiency, preferred
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
