Job Overview

The Foundation Schools is seeking a Dedicated Aide to support students with special needs in our educational environment.

About the Role

This position involves working closely with teachers, therapists, and other team members to ensure students' safety and well-being. The Dedicated Aide will provide one-on-one support to assigned students, accompanying them to classes and activities, and helping with academic assignments and behavioral goals.

Responsibilities

  • Shadow and monitor assigned student throughout the school day, documenting progress and maintaining required documentation.
  • Implement behavior management techniques to help students decrease and avoid inappropriate behaviors.
  • Adapt behavior accordingly to meet the requirements of the student's Individualized Education Plan (IEP).
  • Assist students with individual and group classroom assignments, implementing lesson plans and encouraging participation and interaction.
  • Demonstrate basic knowledge of all academic subjects and assist students with classwork.
  • Maintain professional boundaries with all students and reinforce expectations for learning and standards for classroom participation and behavior.
  • Provide feedback to teachers and team members to determine students' needs and adjust interventions and practices accordingly.
  • Promote a safe, appealing, and engaging learning environment, assisting with preparation of classroom materials and other clerical duties.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • A high school diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent
  • Related coursework or an Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Six months of formal training or experience in special education, a psychiatric setting, or other similar setting for children and adolescents preferred

Working Conditions

This role requires:

  • Utilizing basic office equipment, completing reports, and data input while using various computer programs
  • Moving and carrying supplies, light lifting, non-repetitive
  • Maintaining a professional demeanor and relationship with students, colleagues, families, and community partners
